Traveling Used to Be Simple

My latest painting. It is my interpretation of an ancient masterwork – one panel of a huge 6 panel screen. This painting is about 36″ by 18″. It took about 10 hours to paint.

Classical ink painting demands that you spend hours and hours working with a master learning how to see. Managing the water and ink, well that comes too over time. I was blessed to find a true master and began my study 9 years ago.

I call this ‘Traveling Used to be Simple” because it was often a long walk in the mountains. No planes, trains, or automobiles . . .
