Captivating Captives

Well I took my new zoom for a ride this morning at Blue Hills Trailside Museum in Milton. It’s a great spot for the photographer who needs practice with the equipment because they have injured animals and birds in pens so one can practice without losing the subject.

I wanted to learn how to use my 400mm hand held in manual mode. I had a snowy owl, a turkey vulture, a red tail hawk and the usual crowd at the bird feeder to practice on. I got better by the end of the shoot, and overall I’m pretty happy with the lens. It’s a bit heavy, but gives me much better reach. I just have to shoot shoot shoot so I can move its parts without thinking . . .
