We had spent the evening soaking in hot springs and I felt that relaxed feeling I get when I am really clean. The air was cool and the moon was rising over the trees. We were in a basin of sorts. The water was deep, and we actually had a stern line tied to a pine tree to make sure we didn’t find ourselves drifting.
The humpack whales came into the bay and were swimming all around us. They make this whooosh sound when they surface to clear their blow hole. They were trumpeting and singing.
Did you hear that? we asked each other, and watched for the blow mist to rise in the dark.
